The SAVE Lab offers students the chance to conduct an original research project using retrospective clinical data from forensic populations.

Description of Role

This role is ideal for graduate students looking to get additional experience with research. Students should have strong communication skills and be able to think critically about complex social issues related to sexuality and criminal justice. Opportunities for compensation may be available depending on project funding.

Responsibilities

Assist in the development of grant applications, research protocols and research ethics applications. Collect data via interviews with study participants or coding information from clinical assessments. Perform statistical analysis and assist in manuscript development.

This role is ideal for undergraduate students looking to get introductory experience in research. No previous research experience is required. Prospective applicants must be willing to commit to 8 months (2 semesters, usually Fall and Winter).

This role is ideal for undergraduate students looking to build on their existing research experience. Individuals must have worked in a previous research setting. Must be able to commit to 8 months (2 semesters, usually Fall and Winter).

Responsibilities

Conducting literature reviews and extracting information into summary reports. Responsible for tracking and maintaining datasets in Excel and SPSS. Research assistants are expected to attend lab meetings and contribute to scholarly discussions.

Collecting consent from study participants and supervise participants during study participation. Code information from existing datasets, clinical files or criminal justice reports. Assist in the statistical analysis of study data.
